Committed to creating opportunities for education, training, employment, poverty alleviation and inclusion in mainstream society, for people with disabilities.

Although they make up 10% of the Economically Active Population, less than 1% is employed. Far short of the private sector’s representative target of 2-3%. The 4%-target set by government has remained unchanged for more than seven years and it is set to remain unchanged till 2015 due to the lack of reasonable progress made in this area.

PMI in partnership with I-CAN (Pty) Ltd (a consulting, therapy and academic support firm) and Khulisani (an enterprise development specialist) has developed an end-to-end solution that positively addresses learning and employment opportunities for the disabled within South African businesses.

PMI is one of the most significant players in the mainstreaming of individuals with disabilities through, inter alia, learnerships and placement into permanent employment, enterprise development schemes or on a progression of learning at a higher NQF level.


Our services include:

  • Learnerships – Offering a wide range of qualifications from pre-NQF 1 through NQF 7.
  • Placements – Sourcing, screening and interviewing of persons with a disability for permanent / contract placement.
  • Inclusion support – Consulting on all aspects of mainstreaming integration including sensitisation and job carving.
  • BBBEE Consulting – Consulting to business on disability related BBBEE solutions.
  • Disability Academies – Providing opportunities for employers to participate in semi-sheltered learnership programmes.
  • Enterprise Development Opportunities – providing businesses with the opportunity to invest and participate in Enterprise Development initiatives for people with disabilities. Current initiatives include Adfusion café, a vending cart concept and a mobile car wash.

PMI has a national footprint with fully resourced disability academies across South Africa.

This enables use to offer various delivery models:

  • Academy Model: accommodates the learners on PMI premises in an Academy on a lead-host employer model;
  • Off-site Model: accommodates the learners on client premises in a fully-fledged traditional learnership;
  • Blended Model: accommodates the learners on both PMI and client premises in a customised solution as per client requirements.
